The Keystone USB 3.0 Insert is a modular “pass-through” connector that allows you to integrate high-speed USB ports into a standard keystone wall plate or patch panel. Unlike network or phone jacks, these are typically “couplers,” meaning they have a female port on both the front and the back.

Product features

• Physical design: the insert follows the standard keystone dimensions, allowing it to snap into any universal wall plate.
• Color coding: most USB 3.0 inserts use the industry-standard blue plastic insulator inside the port to distinguish them from the slower USB 2.0 (black/white) ports.
• Plug and play: both the front and back interfaces uses a USB 3.0 Type-A female port, allowing you to simply plug in a pre-terminated USB cable behind the wall.

Steps for getting the right amount of inserts for your project:

1. Determine the empty slots of the wall plate. For example, you want two 6-slot 120×120 wall plates. The total number of empty slots is 12.
2. Determine the actual number of inserts you need. Subtract the total empty slots from the amount of inserts you actually need. The value gotten will be for the blank inserts [click here]. For example, you require four RJ45 inserts, 12 – 4 = 8. That means you will buy 8 blank inserts for the slots you will not be using.
