The Keystone RJ11 Telephone insert is a modular component used to house a standard telephone jack within a keystone wall plate, patch panel, or surface-mount box. It is the standard connector for analog voice, fax, and DSL lines.
Product features
- Physical design: the insert features a rectangular face that snaps into a standard keystone opening. It typically contains a 6P4C (6 Positions, 4 Contacts) configuration.
- Internal wiring: most modern RJ11 keystone jacks utilize IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) terminals on the rear, allowing for a tool-less or punch-down installation. The terminals are usually labeled according to the T568 standard or the older USOC (Universal Service Order Code) standard.

Steps for getting the right amount of inserts for your project:
- Determine the empty slots of the wall plate. For example, you want two 6-slot 120×120 wall plates. The total number of empty slots is 12.
- Determine the actual number of inserts you need. Subtract the total empty slots from the amount of inserts you actually need. The value gotten will be for the blank inserts [click here]. For example, you require four RJ45 inserts, 12 – 4 = 8. That means you will buy 8 blank inserts for the slots you will not be using.
