BMTD SS316L Coil | 24GA/0.5ohm
The BMTD SS316L coil is a popular line of pre-built coils designed primarily for Rebuildable Drip Atomizers (RDAs) and Rebuildable Tank Atomizers (RTAs). Unlike standard Kanthal coils, these are made from stainless steel 316L, a high-grade medical/food-grade alloy known for its versatility and purity.
Key Benefits of SS316L
- Temperature control: because the resistance of stainless steel changes predictably as it heats up, modern vape mods can use it to prevent “dry hits” by cutting power if the wick runs dry.
- Durability: the SS316L is highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation, often lasting longer than other wire types before needing a “dry burn” and cleaning.
- Lower resistance: if you are used to Kanthal, be aware that an identical build in SS316L will have a lower Ohm reading. Ensure your device can handle sub-ohm loads safely.
Technical characteristics

- Ramp-up time: are very fast. The SS316L has lower electrical resistance than Kanthal, meaning it heats up almost instantly when power is applied.

Maintenance and installation
- Pulse and glow: after installing, pulse the mod at low wattage (15W–20W) to check for “hot spots.” Use ceramic tweezers to pinch or lightly “comb” the wraps until they glow evenly from the inside out.
- Cleaning: when the flavor begins to mute, remove the cotton, dry burn the coil at a low power until it glows dull orange, and then rinse it under a light stream of water (while NOT firing) to remove carbon buildup.
