What is HDMI ARC?

HDMI ARC stands for Audio Return Channel. It is a feature built into most modern TVs and audio devices that simplifies how audio is sent between your TV and an external sound system, like a soundbar or an Audio/Video (AV) receiver. HDMI ARC introduces two-way audio communication over a single HDMI cable.

Benefits of an HDMI ARC:

• Clutter reduction: it eliminates the need for an extra dedicated optical audio cable between your TV and your sound system.
• Single-remote control (HDMI-CEC): HDMI ARC almost always works hand-in-hand with HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control).
