Smart Ultrasonic Water Level Sensor | Tuya Smart Life

The Smart Ultrasonic Water Level Sensor is a non-contact device designed to monitor the depth or volume of liquids in tanks or reservoirs. Unlike traditional float switches, these sensors use sound waves to determine distance, making them highly reliable for various liquid types and environments.

How it operates

The sensor emits high-frequency ultrasonic sound pulses from its face. These waves travel through the air, strike the liquid surface, and reflect to the sensor. The device measures the time of flight (the duration it takes for the pulse to leave and return). Using the speed of sound, the internal processor calculates the distance to the liquid. By subtracting this distance from the tank’s total depth (which you calibrate during setup), the sensor determines the actual water level.

• Non-contact measurement: because the sensor never touches the liquid, it is resistant to corrosion, scaling, and fouling. This makes it ideal for acids, chemicals, or wastewater.
• Smart connectivity: this allows for real-time monitoring via the Tuya smart app.
• Automated logic: they can be linked to smart relays to automatically turn a pump on when the level is low or off when the tank is full.
• Precision: these sensors typically offer an accuracy range within ±1% to ±5% of the measured distance, depending on the model and environmental factors like temperature or foam.

How to install the device?

1. Place the gasket in the center of the tank where you will drill a hole for the Ultrasonic Water Level Monitor.
2. Drill a hole (with a diameter of >55mm) in the middle of the tank.
3. Place the sensor over the gasket with the screw holes aligned and unobstructed.
4. Fasten the sensor with the self-tapping screws that are provided.

Note that if the mounting surface is curved, it is sufficient to fix the device with screws, making sure that the screws do not interfere with the data. If the data is abnormal, the screws must be loosened.
