A 433MHz Repeater (also known as a signal booster) is a compact hardware device designed to extend the operating range of wireless smart home, security, and automation devices that work on a 433MHz radio frequency. It bridges the gap between low-power transmitters and their central hubs by capturing, amplifying, and retransmitting signals.
Functionality of a 433MHz Repeater
In open space, standard 433MHz signals typically reach between 50 and 100 meters. However, real-world obstacles like reinforced concrete walls, brickwork, and metal structures can reduce this range to less than 20 meters. The repeater acts as a wireless relay station. It listens on the 433.92MHz frequency, decodes an incoming data packet, and immediately retransmits it at full broadcast power, effectively doubling or tripling the reliable coverage area.

Not battery back up on the extender. All programming is lost during load shedding.

Hi Richard, unfortunately our ‘loadshedding’ situation in SA seems unique as the manufacturers don’t offer this item with battery backup included. Fortunately, the input voltage is 12VDC making the addition of an inline 12V battery relatively easy. We could offer you a battery to provide backup between the repeater and its power supply. Alternatively, if you have an inverter UPS then connection here would be preferred.
